New Santa Clara Entertainment District

It looks like Santa Clara could be getting a new downtown-style entertainment district similar to Santana Row right across the street from the new 49ers Stadium. The project may include a mix of hotels, restaurants, retail, and residential. Currently the land is being used as a city-owned golf course and was formerly a landfill site.

The total area available for this project is a substantial 230 acres (Santana Row is only 45 acres). However, any project built here would be done over many phases. Separate from this project, Joe Montana is also planning to build a hotel complex with a sports bar and restaurant adjacent to the stadium.

Santa Clara Launches Free WiFi!

Late last month Silicon Valley Power flipped the switch to free WiFi across the city of Santa Clara through it's smart-grid system. This is apparently the first deployment of it's kind and over 5,000 connections are expected each day. Don't expect breakneck speeds--it will be slower than your Comcast Cable or DSL connection--but you can't complain about the price.

The network is called SVPMeterConnectWiFi

I have not been able to connect to it from Rivermark, but perhaps you will have better luck (I am hoping that they are not finished rolling it out).

Summertime In Rivermark

It is most definitely summertime in Rivermark.  The weather is certainly hot, but beautiful, as is the nature that surrounds our homes.  I thought I would share a few photographs I took today in our neighborhood.
